Trying Something New - Mosaic Art

Hi creative friends! It's Annette Green here today on the Creative Carte Blanche blog, continuing this month's Creative Adventure of "Trying Something Artistic You've Never Tried Before." It's been fun seeing the projects many of you are sharing with us here, and what new things you're trying.

I hope by now that you've had a chance to watch the video of all those fabulous and inspiring artists and their advice on how to find your own creative style. I was most touched by Cheryl Boglioli's words, because like her, I was struggling with what type of creative person I was. An artist? A crafter? I've discovered that the answer is YES! No need to pick a side. I'm embracing both!

As an artistic crafter, I tend to choose projects that ultimately serve a function, while also making them as pretty as possible. For years I've altered objects. It's one of my favorite things to do. But one thing I've never tried before is mosaic art. So once I discovered the Distress Paper Mosaic Kit by Ranger, I decided to give it a go.
I created this shabby chic lady's caddy from a simple wooden box from the craft store, perfect for holding pretty bottles of perfume, powders, make-up and brushes, and other lovely items in the boudoir. Please visit my blog for all the details on how this came together and my experience with the paper mosaic kit.

And don't forget to keep on creating and then link your projects here, trying something artistic you've never tried before. We'll continue this theme through February. We love when you share with us!

  2. Your mosaic box is so pretty...and functional! I hear where you are coming from when listening to Cheryl's words - I feel like sometimes others try to label us as they see us, but most importantly is how we see ourselves in the creative world.
