DECEMBER CREATIVE CARTE BLANCHE - SONG LYRICS

Welcome everyone to December's Creative Carte Blanche artistic adventure - Song Lyrics!  I just love this theme!  My only problem is that I had too many ideas in my head!  I finally settled on one the day that we had our first snow here in Colorado - Colorado Snow by the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band - pretty appropriate, huh?  I have always loved this song.  I decided to create a journal spread with the song.  You can listen to it here.

"The closest thing to Heaven on this planet anywhere, is a quiet Christmas morning in the Colorado Snow".

Please join me on my blog www.paperskiesandhazeleyes.blogspot.com to see the tutorial regarding the creation of this journal spread.  It was the first time attempting several of these techniques!  Then go to our main December Creative Carte Blanche page and upload your project!  Can't wait to see them!

HUMBLE AND KIND MANILA FOLDER MINI BOOK

Happy December and welcome to Creative Carte Blanche's December art challenge hosted by the lovely and talented Cheryl Grigsby.

I am in love with her theme ... Song Lyrics!  Words have always fascinated me.  And when you put words to music; well, even better!  Songs make us laugh.  They make us cry.  They remind us of a place in time.

So I invite you to join me on my creative adventure as I constructed a Manila folder mini book inspired by a beautiful and very powerful new contemporary country song sung by Tim McGraw.

Here is a picture of the first page spread of my mini book; sharing the first verse of "Humble and Kind".

On my blog, I will share with you the lyrics of the complete song and how it inspired each of the pages of my book.  There is also a link to a music video where you can actually hear the song.  I know it will move you the way it continues to move me every time I hear it.

Join me HERE ON MY BLOG now.  It is my prayer that this little book and the words of this beautiful song inspire you emotionally and creatively.

December Artistic Adventure - Song Lyrics

Favorite thing about mixed media?  Lemme see.....

That no ONE thing is your medium.
That art doesn't have bold borders that must not be crossed.
That many artistic expressions can inform and inspire you as you are creating your own art.
This month, lets let Song Lyrics be our muse.

Any song that moves you, that ear worm you can't get rid of, Christmas carols that make this time of year merry and bright, anything you like.  Creative Carte Blanche, as ever, YOU take this starting place and then go the way your heart leads you.

I love music, I listen to something everyday and can't get through some of my more mundane tasks without it.  You may feel this way, too.  Honestly, the hardest, hardest part of this one will be to choose just one song.  But then again, maybe you don't choose just one?  Let's see whatcha got.

Link your art here and share with the world.  By the way, the world says thank you.  <3

November Wrap-Up - You Have Me In Stitches

Well, it's Black Friday here in the States, so you're probably all out shopping at the crack of dawn. We hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving. Hopefully once you're returned home and settled back in with a cup of coffee and put your feet up, you'll find your way here as we wrap up the November adventure "You Have Me In Stitches."

My creation is this fun little vignette box house. This box is only about 7 inches tall, so it's a great size for those holiday miniatures. Imagine the possibilities with other themes besides Christmas. The stitching in the background really gives it a homey feeling, with great texture.

I hope you can join me over on my blog for my tutorial today.

NOVEMBER ART ADVENTURE - 'YOU HAVE ME IN STITCHES"

Hello Everyone!  This year is certainly going way too fast for me!  However, the lovely Annette Green has come up with a fabulous theme for this month's Creative Carte Blanche, "You Have Me in Stitches".  You are supposed to use fabric or sewing in some "fashion" in your project.  I am not much of a seamstress, however, I like to sew by hand, so I created my project with a sewing theme and hand stitched borders.

For more information concerning the steps used to create this piece, please visit my blog here.  I would really love to see  you there!  Then upload your creation to the InLinz which can be found on this month's introductory blog post and share your project with us!  We would love to see your interpretation of this wonderful art adventure!

YOU HAVE ME IN STITCHES MINI JOURNAL FOR CREATIVE CARTE BLANCHE

Hello everyone and happy November!

Time is flying as it seems we are in warp speed heading to the Christmas holidays!

When I think of the fast approaching holidays, I think of handmade ornaments, home decor pieces or gifts for friends and family.  Perhaps this month, you will discover something here that will inspire you in your holiday creations.

The lovely Annette Green is hosting this month's art adventure titled
"You Have Me In Stitches".

I can't wait to see how YOU and my creative cohorts will interpret this theme! I'm guessing anything from actual machine stitching to faux stitching for those of us who are "sewing impaired" will be shared!

I created a mini journal that could be a great little stocking stuffer, given as a gift or keep it for yourself!

I have to admit that I was really inspired by my dear friend Cheryl Grigsby's "Wishy Woman" art journal pages from last month's challenge. I thought her woman was just so very cool and I needed to use something very similar to her for my cover!

I also used a lovely sentiment stamp from another of our Creative Cohorts, Yvonne Blair.  You can find her vast array of wonderful stamps through Impression Obsessions.

Now, head on over to MY BLOG, where I will share a pictorial tutorial with you for creating this easy mini journal!

Be sure to join us all this month by posting your "You Have Me In Stitches" creation to our community blog and share your thoughts and process with others!
